One of the key technologies we use is the Optomap Monaco, a highly advanced retinal imaging system. This allows us to view up to 80 percent of the retinal surface, compared to around 25 percent with traditional methods. This wider view helps us detect changes that may otherwise go unnoticed.
The system also incorporates fundus autofluorescence and an OCT scanner, enabling us to assess the deeper layers of the eye in remarkable detail. These technologies allow us to identify potential issues at a much earlier stage, often before any symptoms are noticed. Early detection plays an important role in protecting long term vision and maintaining eye health.
Accurate prescriptions begin with precise measurements. Our Essilor autorefractor provides an initial assessment of your prescription while also identifying irregularities at the front of the eye. This gives our optometrist a strong starting point for your eye examination.
We also use a computerised phoropter, which replaces traditional trial frames. This allows for quicker adjustments and more accurate comparisons between lens options, helping you achieve clear and comfortable vision.
In addition, our computerised lensmeter measures your current glasses and can identify lens materials. This enables us to recommend improved lens designs or thinner, lighter options where appropriate.
Understanding your full visual function is essential. Our Henson 9000 system is used for visual fields testing, which assesses your peripheral vision. This is particularly important for activities such as driving and for detecting conditions like glaucoma.
We also measure eye pressure using Reichert and Keeler tonometers. Monitoring eye pressure is a key part of identifying and managing glaucoma, helping to ensure your eyes remain within healthy limits.
For patients requiring further analysis, we also incorporate Corneal Topography, which maps the surface of the eye. This is especially useful for contact lens fitting and detecting subtle changes in corneal shape.
To further refine your eyewear, we use the Hoya VisuReal system. This innovative device uses advanced technology to take highly accurate spectacle measurements. By analysing how your frames sit and how your eyes align with the lenses, it helps us deliver optimal visual clarity and comfort in your glasses.
